ACTIVITY: SELF-VIDEO INTERVIEW
NOTES: Giving Specific Feedback Remember: "Your actions either underline or erase your words." -------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------- 1) Set up your camera to frame your face and preferably your shoulders and hands. Practice interviewing with at least 2 different partners, and take a video of yourself either on your phone or using the camera function on your laptop. Decide on the best of your videos, which you will later upload to Recap. 2) After the interview, watch your video and get specific feedback from your partner for the following:

RHETORIC & THE RESUME
1) Read and take notes from "Rhetorical Awareness" and "Resume Workshop" on Purdue OWL;
2) Review and take notes from the "Rhetorical Situation" document;
3) Review the attached model RESUME (WritingaResume.pdf).
4) Download the attached Word document ("Resume.docx"). Rename it as your firstinitial last name RESUME.date (ex: srosaliaRESUME.070417).
5) Create a new sub-folder in your English folder on OneDrive, and name it "MY PORTFOLIO". Save your resume to that folder.
6) Read the "Resume Tips" pdf document and at this link: https://www.thebalance.com/first-resume-example-with-no-work-experience-2063278
and REVISE your resume to include the tips and avoid the pitfalls.
INTERVIEW ROLE-PLAY
1) Read and take notes from this resource on Interview Questions: https://www.thebalance.com/top-interview-questions-and-best-answers-2061225
2) Download the "Interview Role-Play" document and save it to your "My Portfolio" folder. Fill in your answers to the questions, remembering the rhetorical situation - craft your responses to appeal to your audience (potential employer).
3) Watch and make 5 observations each in your notes from the videos what NOT TO DO (Video 1) and what TO DO (Video 2) in an Interview.4) PARTNER ACTIVITY: With a partner, take turns role-playing an employer reviewing the resume and asking the interview questions. Challenge each other on the "fine tuning" you learned about from the "Resume Tips" document, as well as with the responses. Revise your resume and Interview answers according to the feedback from your partner.
5) Submit your "Interview Role-Play" assignment and your completed resume to the assignment. (NOTE: Submit = attaching the file OR copying/pasting it into the assignment dropbox). Be sure to save both of these documents in your "Career Portfolio" folder on OneDrive.
